A stay at Camp Creek Inn or Watersound Inn offers more than luxury accommodations; these premier properties provide curated Watersound 30A resort experiences you won’t find anywhere else in South Walton. Guests can stay as members and access an array of private club amenities, including championship golf, beachside concierge services, private pools and restaurants, sporting clays and wellness programming.

The Watersound Club experience includes a state-of-the-art Racquet Center with expertly maintained tennis and pickleball courts for players of all skill levels, plus a year-round calendar of tennis and pickleball events and clinics led by a team of instructors.

At the helm of the Racquet Center is Watersound Club Director of Racquets, Alexa Guarachi Bruner, a five-time WTA Tour doubles champion. Alexa’s impressive career highlights include reaching a career-high world doubles ranking of #11 in September 2021 and reaching the finals of the 2020 French Open. Most recently, she earned a spot in the 2026 Wimbledon Ladies’ Doubles draw alongside partner Alicja Rosolska and competed in the 2026 U.S. Open Championships in Flushing Meadows, NY, with partner Mayar Sherif.

Alexa’s love of racquet sports began at a young age; she started playing tennis at age 5 and later played collegiate tennis at the University of Alabama. Among her favorite memories on the professional circuit is playing mixed doubles against Serena Williams and Andy Murray on Centre Court at Wimbledon in 2019. She joined the Watersound Club team in February 2024, bringing a lifelong passion for racquet sports and a commitment to providing guests with world-class instruction.

“Members and guests can spend the day enjoying everything Watersound Club has to offer and have a really seamless experience across the club. Our goal is to make racquet sports a major part of the member and guest lifestyle—not just an amenity.”’

We sat down with Alexa to learn what guests should know about adding tennis and pickleball to their next 30A beach vacation.

What differentiates Watersound Club racquet sport offerings from other similar clubs/resorts in the region?

What differentiates Watersound Club Racquets is the combination of our facility quality and service, the variety of racquet sports we offer and, most importantly, the level of member and guest experience we strive to provide. We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and social community. Our guests and members have fun, make friendships and improve their game out on the courts.

What do you think surprises guests most about racquet sports?

I think guests are most surprised by how much more there is to racquet sports than they expect. A lot of people come in thinking it’s simply about playing tennis or pickleball and quickly realize it’s also about the community, the social experience and the variety of ways to participate.

You can be highly competitive, take a private lesson, join a clinic, play a casual game with friends or come to a social event and meet new people. There’s really something for every age and every ability level. You don’t have to be an experienced player to feel like you belong. The sense of community is often what keeps people coming back.

What should guests expect from a tennis or pickleball clinic?

Guests can expect our tennis and pickleball clinics to be welcoming, organized and tailored to a range of skill levels. Clinics typically combine instruction with practical drills, allowing participants to work on fundamentals such as technique, footwork, positioning, shot selection and strategy. Guests often enjoy the mix of learning, exercise, and fun, and they value instructors who make sessions engaging and inclusive.

What should guests know before their first lesson?

I would tell any hesitant guest that you don’t have to be good at tennis or pickleball to have a great time; you just have to be willing to try. Our instructors are there to help you feel comfortable, meet you where you are and build confidence from the very beginning. Before your first lesson, don’t worry about knowing the rules or having the perfect technique; just show up with an open mind! Our goal is to make your first experience positive and enjoyable.
