Sure, Scenic Highway 30A is world-renowned for its sugar-white sand beaches, emerald-green waters and charming coastal communities, but did you know one of the area’s most alluring characteristics lies beneath the surface?

Yes, it’s officially fishing season in South Walton, and the summer ushers in one of the Gulf’s most coveted prizes: Gulf Red Snapper! The season stays open well into the fall and winter months, making this an ideal time to plan your Gulf fishing adventure.

Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a family wanting to experience the thrill of a tight line, the coming months offer premier access to a spectacular 30A fishing experience. Of course, pairing your fishing getaway with a stay at one of St. Joe’s award-winning hotels ensures your time off the water is just as memorable as your time on it.

To help you get started, we’ve put together a few things you need to know.

Why 30A Is a Prime Fishing Spot

Florida’s Gulf Coast is brimming with biodiversity, providing a plentiful bounty–from grouper and snapper to mahi and swordfish. And thanks to the area’s diverse landscapes and ecosystems, anglers have access to a variety of spots (and ways) to cast a line and go surf fishing.
